Film Independent recorded Ang Lee in 2001 under two separate credits for one film: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon took him the Best Director award, and the same film won Best Film that year, his name appearing on that item as a producer. The institution had nominated him in 1994 and 1995 as well, and gave him a second directing award in 2006 for Brokeback Mountain. The Berlinale gave the Golden Bear to two of his films, in 1993 to Hsi Yen, recorded ex aequo and shared with Xie Fei's film, and in 1996 to Sense and Sensibility. The Italian academy names two of his films in Italian in its items of 2006 and 2013, adding the prefix I segreti di to one of them. Of the twelve works here he directed eleven.
