Henri Verneuil
20 films
Henri Verneuil took the director's chair on Guns for San Sebastian in a project that had been changing hands for years. Ken Annakin was being considered for the job in November 1965; Daily Variety of 13 December 1965 then wrote that the plan to shoot in Spain had been dropped and the whole film would be made at MGM's Culver City studio. On 25 January 1967 the same paper announced that Verneuil had taken the directing over and that he and the producer Bar had set up an office at MGM to begin casting. The day after, it wrote that Anthony Quinn would take the lead and that seventy-five per cent of the production would pass in Mexico. The film was shot entirely in Mexico in the end, among its locations San Miguel de Allende, Durango and Mexico City.
