Vietnam. An Army cameraman who normally shoots training films is attached to a six-man reconnaissance patrol. The job is to walk a few days through territory the enemy holds and come back. The whole film is what his lens sees; we never see him, we only hear his voice. The soldiers talk to the camera, describe each other, joke around. Then it goes wrong and the camera does not stop. We work out what is happening only from where the camera is pointed. Patrick Sheane Duncan's first film; ninety minutes. He served in Vietnam himself. The title is the Army's code for its motion picture specialists. It was named best first feature at the Independent Spirit Awards, and it was using found-footage technique years before that became common.
