What A Bay of Blood Is About
After a countess is killed, everyone who wants the land around the bay starts killing everyone else. Nobody is innocent. The film builds no characters and does not hide it; the narrative is a sequence of murders, and how they are staged is the subject. The section in which young people at a camp are killed was imitated repeatedly in American slashers in the years that followed. Mario Bava directed. It is an Italian production made on a low budget. A real warning: the deaths are shown at length and in detail, and it spent years on the banned list in Britain. For viewers wanting character or suspense there is nothing here.
