What A Case for a Rookie Hangman Is About
Pavel Juráček's Czech film, released in 1970, comes out of the third book of Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels. After a car crash Gulliver continues on foot and finds a dead rabbit dressed as a man on the road, taking a watch from its waistcoat. He then finds himself in Balnibarbi, a country whose rules he does not understand and where he commits an offence at every step without knowing it. He talks on a day when people are required to keep silent, and he is interrogated. The film was shown in Prague for about two weeks and then pulled from distribution; Juráček had to leave the Barrandov studio and never made another film.
