What A Dot and a Line Is About
On the border between Colombia and Venezuela, at a moment of sharply raised nationalism, two soldiers meet: Cheito, a Venezuelan doing his compulsory service and interested only in getting out, and Pedro, a Colombian who volunteered to defend his country’s honour. The country itself is hostile to both of them and the only way through is together. Elia Schneider’s Venezuelan production is built as a black comedy that keeps the same distance from both sides of the line. Edgar Ramírez and Roque Valero play it. Venezuela submitted the film for the foreign language Oscar.
