A Driver for Vera

Sevastopol, 1962, a closed military zone. General Serov takes on Viktor, a young cadet from the Kremlin Guard, as his private driver. Viktor's actual job is to drive the general's daughter Vera, who cannot walk, around in a black ZIM. Vera drinks, smokes and tries to please nobody, and Viktor starts to care for her. But without either of them knowing, someone else is arranging the board: Saveliev of the KGB. The old score between the army and the KGB is being settled through this household. Pavel Chukhray directs, with Igor Petrenko as Viktor, Alyona Babenko as Vera and Bohdan Stupka as the general. A hundred and five minutes. It begins like a private love story and ends up being about how a state uses people.
