A woman whose name is never spoken gets back the parcel she sent to her husband in prison, and sets out to deliver it herself. In the Siberian prison town she reaches, she can neither find him nor learn why it was returned: every door is shut and every answer sends her to another queue. Sergei Loznitsa's film, which takes Dostoevsky's 1876 story as its starting point, shows slowly and without any relief how a state apparatus grinds a person down while appearing to do nothing at all. It competed at Cannes in 2017.
