What A Girl Named Ann Is About
A young woman who grew up in a violent household was pushed into prostitution by her mother at twelve, never finished school and became dependent on drugs. Meeting two people who help her change her life, a police officer and a magazine journalist, opens a gap for her; for the first time she tries to build an order of her own, starts working and starts learning to read. Then the days of the pandemic and an incident that comes out shift that order from under her. The film started from a real story published in a newspaper in 2020, and tells it without pity and without blaming the woman. Yuumi Kawai appears in Yu Irie’s hundred and thirteen minute Japanese film, completed in 2024.
