What A Long Walk Is About

Yasuda is a retired high school principal. He lost his wife to alcohol. He is also estranged from his daughter. There is a reason for it: in the past he was violent towards his family. He lives alone now. He moves into an old apartment block in the country. In the flat next door is a little girl. The girl is called Sachi. The child has been neglected. In winter she sits barefoot and thinly dressed. There are cuts and bruises on her legs. In time a bond forms between the two of them. They then set out on a journey together. Ken Ogata and Hana Sugiura take the leads in Eiji Okuda’s Japanese film of 2006.
