Abandoned

Áron is a happy child inside his family. Then his mother’s health begins to fail quickly. The man who decides for the family asks the boy nothing. One day Áron finds himself taken out of his warm home and put in an orphanage in the woods. He is not at all reconciled to it, and does not yet know that worse is coming. The film never leaves the child’s point of view and does not set out the adults’ reasons. Institutions deciding for a child without counting the child is the real subject. The account softens nothing. Tamás Mészáros and Szabolcs Csizmadia appear in Árpád Sopsits’s hundred and two minute Hungarian film, completed in 2001.
