Adam and the Devil

Hacer, left pregnant and abandoned after a relationship outside marriage, is cast out by her family and her neighbours. To save her from that position, Hasan the imam marries her as a formality and acts as a father to her daughter Fatma for years. Because he takes the marriage as a trial set for him, and believes the man will one day come back for them, he tries not to grow close to either of them. The family arrives in a small town beside a railway station where Hasan is to teach the children through Ramadan. His strange conduct toward his wife and daughter draws the attention of the townspeople. Adem, the stationmaster’s son who is mad about trains, hears of sin, good deeds and hell for the first time in those lessons. Nurgul Yesilcay and Cem Ozer appear in Baris Pirhasan’s ninety nine minute Turkish film, completed in 2007.
