What Adventures of a Dentist Is About
The young dentist Chesnokov has a strange gift: he can pull teeth without causing any pain. For his patients this is a blessing, but for his colleagues a threat; fearing their own work will lose its value, they begin to corner him. He resists at first, then tries to hide his gift, and the matter stops being one of ability and becomes one of fitting in. The film comes from the vein of Soviet cinema of the sixties that looked at how institutions meet what is not ordinary, and tells it as comedy. Andrey Myagkov plays the lead in Elem Klimov’s seventy seven minute Soviet film, completed in 1967.
