All These Years

Chen Jianxia grew up in a house where the men had the last word. While she is at Zhenhua she meets Li Ran, a boy the school treats as trouble. He becomes the one bright place in her life. The two put each other back together, but in the end their roads separate. The film tells a bond made in early youth as a love story and just as much as a story of getting out. Where the girl stands at home is the starting point of the account, and the worth of what she finds outside comes from there. The parting is left standing at the end as a loss. Zhang Xincheng and Sun Qian take the leads in Layla Zhuqing Ji’s hundred and sixteen minute Chinese film, completed in 2023.
