What Almost Paradise Is About
Julio Cesar and his mother live a life bound tightly together and at the same time suffocating. They make their living from small jobs done for a local dealer; in the evenings they dance, they recall old days and they want this arrangement to continue. The fragile balance is upset when Ines, a young Colombian woman who has come to work as a carrier, appears. The film shows the bond between mother and son as both love and a kind of captivity, and treats the world of crime not as a background but as a way of making a living. Edoardo Pesce plays the lead in Enrico Maria Artale’s hundred and six minute Italian film, completed in 2024.
