What Amor Bandido Is About
The title and the first half present this as a love story. It is not. Joan, sixteen, runs off to the provinces with Luciana, a thirty-five-year-old teacher at his school. She is an adult, he is her pupil, and the relationship is abuse regardless of how the film frames it. Joan works out fairly quickly that what he has fallen into is not love but a trap mixing money, politics and violence. An Argentine thriller of eighty minutes. It contains sexual content, violence, and a relationship with a minor. Anyone expecting a light romance has the wrong film.
