Amparo

The story is set in Colombia. The year is the late nineties. Amparo is raising her children alone. Her son is conscripted while still young. Where he is sent is the most dangerous region in the country. Amparo wants to stop it. She has very little time. She goes from door to door. It is men she meets at every one. At each door a different price is asked. Corruption and violence are everywhere. The film is about that scramble. It is Simón Mesa Soto’s first feature. It screened in Critics’ Week at Cannes in 2021. Sandra Melissa Torres won an award there. Luciana Gallego Alvarez also appears in the ninety one minute film, a Colombian, German and Swedish production.
