An Interview with God

Paul, a journalist just back from Afghanistan with his marriage coming apart, is offered an interview: the man across from him says he is God. They meet in three separate sessions and Paul's questions change each time. Perry Lang builds the whole film on conversation, advancing by question and answer rather than plot, and leaves who the man really is unresolved to the end. Brenton Thwaites plays the journalist and David Strathairn the man opposite, and Strathairn's calm is the film's one real strength. It is aimed openly at a faith audience and answers its own questions. The budget is small and there are few locations. Who it is for: viewers who like faith-themed drama and two-hander conversation films. Who it is not for: anyone expecting a balanced argument, since the film declares its side.
