Angel on the Right

A man comes out of prison and returns to his home town. He served his sentence in Russia. The place he returns to is a town called Asht. The reason he comes is his mother. The woman is dying and wants her son with her. But the man has old debts in the town. The debts have gone unpaid for years. Those who hear he is back turn up at the door. The townspeople are not the sort who give up easily. The man gets more than he bargained for. The reckoning between mother and son is open too. A hard humour comes out of their talk. The people of the town play themselves in the film. The director put his own family in the roles of the mother and the brother. Jamshed Usmonov directed the ninety one minute film. The Tajik, Italian, French and Swiss coproduction was finished in 2002.
