Atsuko Okatsuka: Father

The film is a stand up show. The performer is Atsuko Okatsuka. She was born in Taiwan. Her parents are Japanese and Taiwanese. At eight she was taken to America. Her grandmother and mother brought her. She thought it was a holiday. There was no going back. Her father stayed behind in Asia. The show is called Father. The name points at her relationship with him, and at her own marriage. She finds herself in the father’s role at home, good at her work and hopeless at ordinary things, from seven years without doing laundry to learning late that a marriage licence comes before a wedding. Ryan Harper Gray made the sixty two minute show, an American production finished in 2025.
