Awaken

The documentary takes up the relation people have with technology and with the natural world. The filming was spread over five years and done in more than thirty countries. The film uses timelapse, underwater and aerial techniques together. The account builds no plot; it uses the image itself as a kind of argument. Its case is that the way we look at the world can be changed; that case is the work’s own. In a documentary of this kind, which comes first, the technique or the message, is left open to argument. The seventy four minutes are given to image rather than to speech. Tom Löwe’s documentary, a joint Emirati and American production, was completed in 2021.
