What Back Streets of Paris Is About

Madame Rose runs a run down hotel on the edge of Paris. There is a killing in her past: she killed her husband. The reason was that his honesty got in the way of her business. Her sentence was suspended and now she deals in smuggling. One day Victor, a former accomplice on the run from the police, takes shelter with her. Over a night of drinking he leaves a case full of banknotes in her keeping. He means to build a new life in South America with that money. But Rose gives in to it and betrays him, and Victor is arrested. He manages to escape, with one thing on his mind. Françoise Rosay and Simone Signoret take the leads in Marcel Blistène’s French film of 1946.
