Badnaam Gali

A woman lives in a housing complex in Delhi. She is pregnant and on her own. There is no husband and no one else in the flat. The people in the complex talk about her. How she lives becomes a subject of curiosity. Rumours go round. She is carrying a child as a surrogate. She does not explain that to anyone. An aunt who lives there keeps track of everything. She passes what she hears to her nephew. He ends up in the middle of all this talk, and drawn into the woman’s life without meaning to be. In time something forms between them, and the film takes on the pressure a neighbourhood can apply. Divyendu Sharma, Patralekhaa and Dolly Ahluwalia appear in the ninety five minute film, an Indian production Ashwin Shetty finished in 2019.
