What Barracuda Is About

Clement, a devotee of Fred Astaire, invites the comic book artist Luc to Sunday lunch to meet his wife Violette. Luc’s mind is elsewhere, since his girlfriend Margot has just told him she is pregnant, but he goes anyway. When he sees that Violette is a life sized plastic doll he wants to leave, and wakes from a blow to the head handcuffed to the bathroom sink and gagged. What follows is a very long night in the hands of a man who believes he is taking advice from both Astaire and the doll. Guillaume Canet faces Jean Rochefort in Philippe Haim’s film.
