What Baseball Girl Is About
Joo Soo-in is the only girl on her high school baseball team and she is about to graduate. What she wants is to enter professional baseball, which has never admitted a woman. Everyone tells her it cannot be done, that if the speed is not there then no other route exists. Choi Yun-tae’s first feature refuses to convert this into an inspirational rise; it asks instead who the standard for measuring a talent was built for in the first place. Lee Joo-young plays Soo-in. The film showed at Busan in 2019 and reached cinemas in 2020.
