What Be My Wife Is About
Max is set on marrying Mary, but her Aunt Agatha is firmly against it and shuts the door on him. Rather than persuade the aunt, Max chooses to fool her; he puts on disguises, stages false acts of heroism, and each time makes the tangle worse. In the end their path crosses the world of Madam Coralie, a dressmaker who is also running liquor, and the chase grows larger still. Alta Allen plays Mary and Caroline Rankin the aunt. Max Linder wrote, directed and starred in this fifty seven minute silent American comedy, one of the films the French comedian made in America. It was completed in 1921.
