Carmín is a girl in her teens. She lives in a mountain village in the middle of Puerto Rico. A tough and conservative grandmother is raising her. Her mother left for the United States without taking her. Then her father comes back after long years in prison. His return eases Carmín’s deep sadness a little. But the relationship formed with him brings its own ambiguities. As Carmín moves into womanhood that ambiguity turns into great confusion. It is she who carries most of the weight of it. Cordelia González and Miranda Purcell take the leads, with Kisha Tikina Burgos also in the cast, in Arí Maniel Cruz’s Puerto Rican film of 2016.
