Beloved Berlin Wall

Berlin, 1989. Sascha is a young East German border guard; Franzi is a lively West German woman who has just moved into a flat right beside the wall, directly opposite his watchtower. A small mishap and an act of courtesy on his part bind the two of them together. But the Stasi takes the closeness for the beginning of a revolt; this is the time of mass demonstrations and of East Germans taking refuge in the West German embassy in Prague. The two of them have to defend their relationship and to want what looks impossible at the same time. In Peter Timm’s hundred and three minute German film, Felicitas Woll plays Franzi and Maxim Mehmet plays Sascha; it was completed in 2009.
