What Not What You Think Is About
Vuslat Saraçoğlu's 2025 Turkish film brings three siblings together in Tokat after their father's death. They have not seen each other in a long time and their lives are very different. How the death happened is unclear. The film does not build a murder mystery; the narrative puts the reckoning among the siblings first and shows that each remembers a different past. Alican Yücesoy and Serdar Orçin appear. The images are provincial and interior. The tone is tense. Who it's for: viewers of Turkish independent cinema and family drama. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a detective resolution; the film leaves the question open.
