Bomb City

In Amarillo the feud between the punk kids and the high school football team runs for months in small fights, and then one night in a car park a boy is run over and killed. The film is based on the killing of Brian Deneke in 1997. Jameson Brooks builds the story alongside the trial, and his actual subject is not the murder but a town that does not apply the same measure to both sides: the boy driving the car walks without prison. The cutting moves between two time frames and the daily life of the punk scene is built with real shows and real venues. Dave Davis leads. The film caused argument in Amarillo and the case was discussed again. Who it is for: viewers who like American independents based on real events, and punk culture.
