Bonolota Express

Tanim Noor's film takes place on a train setting out on a foggy winter night. The carriages hold people who do not know one another, and the trouble each is carrying comes out as the night goes on. The narrative is built on narrow corridors. The passengers cannot avoid contact; personal matters and a political crisis outside grow at the same time, and when the train stops the situation changes entirely. Mosharraf Karim and Chanchal Chowdhury are in the cast. The narrative builds no single protagonist and moves between sections. The tone sits between comedy and drama; morning comes at the close and no resolution is offered. Who it's for: those who like Bangladeshi cinema and ensemble narrative. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a single story; the film runs many lines in parallel.
