What Bornova Bornova Is About
A few young men in Bornova, a district of Izmir, spending their days in front of a grocer's. Hakan is just back from military service, his football career finished by an injury before it began, and he is waiting for work. Salih, the man everyone in the neighbourhood is wary of, is the only one who listens to him. There is also Murat, Salih's childhood friend, doing a doctorate in philosophy and paying for it by writing erotica. One day a story Murat tells sends Hakan somewhere else entirely. Inan Temelkuran's 2009 film is about how empty time and waiting turn into violence. It took five prizes at the forty sixth Antalya Golden Orange, best film among them.
