Jahan is a gentle, thoughtful young man who dresses the windows of a menswear shop. A poor girl named Eti comes into the shop and Jahan steals a pair of trousers for her. That single act is the beginning of a fall he cannot reverse. The more he tries to solve her troubles, the further his own life is drawn into them. The film says that doing good is not a simple thing, and that who is rescuing whom stays unclear. Class difference makes up the ground of the account; being out of work and unable to get by closes in on all of them. The distance between the life in the window and the life outside it is the real subject. Mohammad Reza Golzar and Golshifteh Farahani appear in Hamid Nematollah’s first feature, a hundred and thirteen minute Iranian production completed in 2003.
