Broken Oath

Lotus is born in prison. Her mother had been put there on a false charge. Her father, General Liu, served the imperial court. Four swordsmen killed him. Her mother wants revenge for it. In prison she befriends a woman who lives by picking pockets. She asks her to raise the child for that purpose. The pickpocket does not want the violence carried on. She leaves the baby at a monastery for women. Lotus grows up there, and twenty years of quiet make no mark on her. She skips lessons to work at the pole and the sword, and is put out of the house. Back with the pickpocket she learns what happened to her parents, and starts looking for the four men. Angela Mao Ying and Michael Chan Wai-Man appear in the ninety eight minute film, a Hong Kong production Jeong Chang-hwa finished in 1977.
