Brutal Tales of Chivalry

The film is set just after the Second World War. The town is a heap of rubble. Gennosuke is the second-generation boss of the Kamizu group. He holds the open-air market in his hands. Gennosuke keeps to the old yakuza code. Because of it he keeps black-market goods out of the market. He keeps controlled goods out as well. But the disorder serves other people. Iwasa and his gang make use of that gap. They take hold of goods coming from the American army. Black-market and controlled goods fall to them too. What they want is to be the strongest group in the Enko district. Ken Takakura and Ryō Ikebe take the leads in Kiyoshi Saeki’s Japanese film of 1965.
