Checco, from Polignano a Mare, works at music, but everyone around him knows him for being clumsy. When his girlfriend leaves he heads to Milan with his cousin Alfredo to chase a music career. There he falls for Marika, whose father is close to the Lega Nord and hates Southern Italians. Gennaro Nunziante directed and co-wrote, with Checco Zalone contributing to the screenplay. It is Zalone's first film. Pietro Valsecchi produced and Medusa Film distributed. Giulia Michelini plays Marika, Dino Abbrescia plays Alfredo and Ivano Marescotti plays her father. It opened on 27 November 2009, runs 95 minutes and grossed 14 million euros. The humour rests on the prejudice between the north and south of Italy, and that is the material the jokes are made of. Who it is for: viewers curious about Italian popular comedy and about Zalone. Who it is not for: anyone who will not follow the local political references. Most of the jokes depend on Italian domestic matters and land flat from outside.
