Chasse-Galerie : La légende

In 1863 a group of travellers trapped in the snow calls up the devil. He gives them a flying canoe so they can get home. One of them arrives to find his wife about to die in childbirth. To save her and his newborn daughter Liza, he makes a pact with the devil. He then cheats the devil of his prize by sacrificing himself. Twenty five years later Liza wants to marry Jos, the man she loves. But Jos has to go to a distant logging camp to earn the money that will save his farm. The devil is determined not to let Liza be happy. The work rests on a folk legend from Quebec. Jean-Philippe Duval’s hundred and nine minute Canadian film was completed in 2016.
