Sandeep Raj's 2020 Telugu film follows Jayakrishna, constantly demeaned for his dark skin. He loves Deepu but does not say so; after a fight the two grow close, and the relationship hardens when Deepu's brother finds out. The subject is discrimination built on skin colour. That fair skin is presented as a superiority in India is shown at the level of advertising, marriage notices and everyday speech; the narrative uses it as the central conflict rather than a side theme. Suhas leads and the role was decisive in his career. The production was low budget and went straight to streaming, yet was widely discussed. The final section approaches melodrama and looks for its resolution through violence. Who it's for: those who like socially grounded Telugu drama. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a measured ending; the film grows emotionally heavy towards the close and contains violence.
