What Crab Trap Is About
Daniel arrives at a village on the Pacific coast. The village is called La Barra. The people living there are Afro-Colombian. Daniel wants to leave the country. What he is looking for is a boat. He expects to stay a few days. The fish have grown scarce, so the boats go far out. The wait stretches on. Meanwhile there is a dispute in the village. On one side stands Cerebro, the local leader. On the other is a landowner called El Paisa. El Paisa wants to build a hotel on the beach. Daniel is caught between them. He says very little about himself. The film won the FIPRESCI prize in the Forum section at Berlin. Arnobio Salazar Rivas and Karent Hinestroza appear in the ninety five minute film, a French and Colombian production Oscar Ruiz Navia finished in 2009.
