Crows and Sparrows

There is an apartment building in Shanghai. It was taken from its original owner. Now an official has appropriated it. The man uses his position for his own gain. He wants to sell the building. That would mean the tenants out on the street. Different people live in the block. On the top floor there is a well off couple. Below them live a teacher and his family. At the bottom are poor tenants with no connections at all. The building becomes a small version of an order. The tenants act together to stop the sale. The film was made in the last period of the civil war in China. Zhao Dan and Wei Heling appear in the hundred and thirteen minute film, a Chinese production Zheng Jun-li finished in 1949.
