Dancehall Queen

Marcia sells on the street in Kingston. She is the only provider for her teenage daughter and life is hard. A man called Priest is threatening her pitch. Things get worse when Marcia takes money from Larry, who has designs on her daughter. To get out of the corner she is in, she works out a plan. The plan is this: to enter a dance contest in disguise and take the top prize. At the same time she means to set the two men against each other. The film takes the dancehall world of Jamaica into the account. Audrey Reid takes the lead in Don Letts and Rick Elgood’s Jamaican film of 1997.
