Desiderium

The film is set in an old house in Tehran. Three brothers live there. The eldest is Habib. He runs the household. Karim is the middle brother. Majid is the youngest. Majid has a cognitive disability. Habib hires a woman to keep him company. Her name is Aghdas. She works as a sex worker, which Majid does not know, and he grows attached to her. Karim’s trouble is of another kind, since he is so taken up with a quail that he barely notices his wife. Habib has feelings of his own for Foroogh, a woman who does tailoring in the same house, but his sense of duty towards Majid keeps him from answering her. Behrouz Vossoughi and Jamshid Mashayekhi appear in the hundred and twenty minute film, an Iranian production Ali Hatami finished in 1977.
