What Detector Is About

Daniel, a psychiatrist of twenty eight, still lives with his mother. He and his friend Ronny share exactly one enthusiasm: hunting for metal objects buried in the ground. One day they turn up a piece of jewellery with the name Janne on it, and that find is the beginning of something that changes the direction of his life, since he is about to dig up a good deal that has stayed buried, about other people and about himself. Pål Jackman’s hundred and four minute Norwegian film was written by the novelist Erlend Loe, and it treats oddness as a temperament rather than a defect. Mads Ousdal, Harald Eia and Kristoffer Joner star. It played at the Moscow International Film Festival and took more than a million dollars in Norway.
