What Dharala Prabhu Is About
Prabhu, a lively and cheerful young man, is approached by a fertility clinic with an offer: if he donates he will make money quickly. He takes the decision without thinking too hard and gives no thought to how it might affect his life later. Years afterwards the consequences of that choice arrive at his door, and he has to rethink both his own attachment and his tie to his family. The film treats the subject as comedy, but by the end the question turns serious: what is fatherhood and who counts as a father. Harish Kalyan and Vivek appear in Krishna Marimuthu’s hundred and fifty two minute Indian film, completed in 2020.
