Dhund

On a foggy night a traveller’s car breaks down. He walks to a nearby house to ask for help. Inside, a man sits shot dead in a chair. A woman sits beside him holding a gun. She says she killed him and asks the traveller to call the police. The dead man is Thakur Ranjit Singh. The woman is his wife Rani. Ranjit was in poor health and kept to the house. He was jealous of her and made her life unbearable with his accusations. Suspicion settles first on Rani, then reaches her former lover Suresh Saxena. The case goes to court, but the killer is somebody else. The account comes from The Unexpected Guest, a play by Agatha Christie. Zeenat Aman, Sanjay Khan and Danny Denzongpa appear in the hundred and twenty four minute film, an Indian production B.R. Chopra finished in 1973.
