Diamond Men

Eddie Miller has worked the road as a jewellery salesman for thirty years. After a heart attack the company pulls him off the territory and gives him one last job: to teach Bobby, the young man replacing him, how the work is done. The two of them go town to town across Pennsylvania. Everything Eddie knows has stopped being of use. Dan Cohen's independent American film gives Robert Forster the leading part he had long been waiting for. The telling uses the shape of a road picture, but its real subject is getting old and being written off. In the second half the story turns somewhere unexpected. Donnie Wahlberg plays the young man and Bess Armstrong the woman Eddie meets.
