Selçuk Aydemir's film is about the preparations for a wedding in Sivas. Two friends, played by Ahmet Kural and Murat Cemcir, return to the village for a wedding organised collectively, and every stage of it turns into a fresh disaster. The comedy comes not from invention but from recognition; most scenes simply record the absurdity already inherent in the custom. It was shot across three cities: the village scenes in the Kemaliye district of Erzincan, the wedding in Sivas, some interiors in Istanbul. Its commercial result was exceptional for Turkish cinema. Made for three million lira, it took over sixty-eight million and drew six million nine hundred and eighty thousand admissions, selling more tickets than any of the hundred and forty-five Turkish films released in 2013, and in the first quarter of 2014 it took the title of most-watched film of the previous thirty years from Fetih 1453. It opened on 6 December 2013. Who it is for: viewers who like Turkish popular comedy and the Kural and Cemcir pairing. Who it is not for: anyone wanting a plot, since the film is a series of episodes and its strength is in its characters.
