What Dulcima Is About
Dulcima, worked like a servant by her own family, takes a job as housekeeper to Parker, a bad tempered widower living alone and drinking on a neighbouring farm. When she sees how much money he has hidden around the place she stops keeping her distance from him, and a strange arrangement grows between them from which both take something. Then a young gamekeeper newly arrived at a nearby estate catches her eye and the balance goes. The film is about rural loneliness and about what money puts between people. Carol White and John Mills appear in Frank Nesbitt’s ninety eight minute British film, completed in 1971.
