El Rey

Cali at the end of the sixties. Pedro Rey runs a small nightclub. One of his customers, an American called Harry, opens another door for him, and within a few years Rey has become one of the first big names in Colombian drug trafficking, dominating the market in the United States before falling. Antonio Dorado uses an invented character to tell the years in which the Cali cartel was born. He neither makes a hero of him nor delivers a lesson; he shows how the trade was assembled. Fernando Solórzano, Cristina Umaña and Marlon Moreno play it. A Colombian, French and Spanish co-production, and Colombia's foreign film submission for 2005.
