Enakkul Oruvan

Prasath Ramar's 2015 Tamil film follows a cinema usher who cannot sleep. He is sold a pill called Lucia, which lets the life he wants be lived in his dreams. The film runs two lines in parallel. One is colourful and successful, the other close to black and white and poor; which one is the dream is deliberately left unclear and the viewer is misled to the end. Siddharth leads. It is a remake of the Kannada film Lucia, which was itself funded by contributions from its audience. The editing is what carries the structure. Who it's for: those who like puzzle narratives and genre experiments. Who it's not for: viewers who want a straight story; the film keeps shifting its ground.
